England Opener Tammy Beaumont has vaulted 5 places, taking over from Australia captain Meg Lanning at the top of the latest ICC ODI standings.
Beaumont is coming off a fantastic series against New Zealand where she made scores of 71, 72* and 88* as England won the series 2-1.
Having been with Kent since 2007, Tammy has made 74 appearances for England in international ODI's and racked up 2,618 runs at an average of 45.13.
Beaumont is a classy opener who constantly finds ways to make runs. Against New Zealand she effectively used the paddle sweep to spinners to score easy runs. A very complex shot, Beaumont often makes it look routine, and New Zealand captain Sophie Devine struggled to find ways to break her defense.
A three format player, Beaumont is one of England's most consistent performers.
A lot of people don't care for the ICC rankings, but Tammy deserves all the recognition she receivers. She'll now lead the line for the England women as they take on New Zealand in a three-game T20 series starting tomorrow in Wellington.
